Soft Washing vs. Pressure Washing — What's the Difference?
Not every surface should be hit with high pressure. Here's when to soft wash and when traditional pressure washing is right.
Pressure washing and soft washing are not interchangeable — using the wrong one can damage your home.
Pressure washing
High pressure (1500–4000 PSI) used for hard surfaces: concrete driveways, brick walkways, pool decks. Great for lifting oil, tire marks and grime.
Soft washing
Low pressure (under 500 PSI — about garden-hose strength) combined with biodegradable cleaning solutions. Used for siding, stucco, painted exteriors, roofs and screens. Kills algae and mildew at the root without damaging the surface.
Why it matters
High pressure on stucco can blow out the finish. On asphalt shingles, it strips protective granules. On wood siding, it raises grain and forces water behind boards. Soft washing is the safer choice anywhere the surface is delicate or porous.
How we choose
We start every job by identifying the surface, testing in a hidden area, and dialing pressure and chemistry to match. One size never fits all.
